Vishal Agrawal, the father of a 17-year-old boy who caused a fatal crash with his speeding Porsche, has been arrested by Pune Police. The accident resulted in the deaths of two individuals. Agrawal, a real estate developer, was apprehended in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Maharashtra, after evading authorities following the filing of a case against him on May 20.

The tragic incident took place early Sunday morning in Pune’s Kalyani Nagar, where the Porsche, driven by the underage boy, collided with a motorcycle carrying two tech professionals, Aneesh Awadhiya and Ashwini Koshta. Ashwini died instantly, while Aneesh passed away shortly after being hospitalized. The minor received bail within 14 hours of detention, sparking public outrage.

Agrawal is charged under sections 75 and 77 of the Juvenile Justice Act. Furthermore, three bar executives were arrested for serving alcohol to the minor: Cosie restaurant owner Pralhad Bhutda, manager Sachin Katkar, and Hotel Black manager Sandip Sangle. CCTV footage of the minor drinking alcohol in one of the bars led to their arrests.

The timeline of the incident shows the teenager and his friends partied at Cozy Bar until midnight before moving to Black Bar, where they stayed until 1 am. The crash occurred around 3:15 am. Allegations of the juvenile receiving preferential treatment from police, including being served pizza and burgers, and intervention from an MLA of the Ajit Pawar NCP faction, have been criticized by Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut, who demanded the removal of the Pune police commissioner.

The victims’ families expressed their anguish and called for stringent measures against reckless driving. Suresh Koshta, Ashwini’s father, mourned the loss of their dreams, while her brother Sampreet stressed the need for strict action to prevent similar incidents. Aneesh Awadhiya’s uncle, Akhilesh, condemned the lenient bail conditions, referring to the minor as a “human bomb.”

The minor, granted bail by the Juvenile Justice Board, was ordered to study traffic rules and write an essay on road accidents. Pune Police plan to appeal to a higher court to try the teenager as an adult. Commissioner Amitesh Kumar vowed to leave no stone unturned in proving the severity of the crime. Eyewitnesses reported three occupants in the Porsche, with one fleeing the scene. All were allegedly intoxicated.
