Nitish Kumar and his political strategy hinges on the BJP repeating its 2019 Lok Sabha performance, a key factor in his recent alliance shift. He relies on his two-decade-long development track record to garner votes and secure his position until the next assembly elections. Shrawan Kumar, a close confidant and the minister for rural development, is actively campaigning to bolster JD(U)’s chances. Having consistently won the Nalanda seat since 1995, Shrawan Kumar offers insights during his campaign.

The response from the electorate has been favorable, with positive feedback from districts like Banka, Katihar, Purunea, Nawada, Gaya, and Munger. Despite numerous alliance changes, Shrawan Kumar assures that voters are not confused due to comprehensive coordination meetings across various organizational levels, which have ironed out any differences.

The campaign focuses on development and the robust Modi-Nitish partnership. Kumar highlights the achievements of their double-engine government, emphasizing economic improvements and substantial state-level progress. Addressing employment, he refutes Tejashwi Yadav’s claims by highlighting that over seven lakh jobs have been created under Nitish Kumar’s tenure. Additionally, initiatives like the Jeevika scheme have empowered over 1.30 crore women, fostering self-reliance and reducing dependence on private money lenders. The state has also created 30,000 police jobs for women.

A recent caste survey conducted during the JD(U)-RJD alliance revealed that 94 lakh households are jobless, leading to plans for employment opportunities over the next five years. The government also intends to provide financial assistance for housing and sanitation to improve living standards.

Shrawan Kumar believes that the Lok Sabha and assembly elections will focus on different issues. Confident in JD(U)’s work in Bihar, he anticipates electoral benefits in the Vidhan Sabha polls, with key initiatives like household and farm electrification nearing completion.

Addressing concerns about the BJP’s ambition of 400 plus seats, he reassures that the Constitution will remain unchanged, dismissing the opposition’s claims as ineffective. Despite past criticism from Chirag Paswan during the assembly polls, current coordination remains smooth with joint rallies and conferences.

Shrawan Kumar dismisses speculation about the BJP potentially replacing Nitish Kumar as chief minister, asserting that such a move would backfire on the BJP. He attributes Nitish Kumar’s popularity to his vision for the underprivileged, drawing parallels to the work of Gandhi, Ambedkar, and other leaders. Kumar’s initiatives have significantly improved the living conditions of women, girls, and youth in Bihar.

Regarding Tejashwi Yadav’s campaign, Shrawan Kumar notes that it predominantly attracts Yadav community members, unlike their inclusive rallies. He criticizes Yadav’s campaign for lacking new ideas and relying on the legacy of Lalu Prasad Yadav to mobilize support.
